Form holds infinite possibilities. Beginning with the growth of a tree, this study translates branching patterns into a controllable set of generative rules, exploring how forms develop and transform as different variables are introduced.

The process begins in Grasshopper, where Rabbit’s L-System generates a branching framework. SubD Pipe then turns the paths into continuous three-dimensional forms, while Biomorpher iterates and compares a range of outcomes. By varying the number and frequency of branches, the experiment examines how local rules shape their extension, density, and overall silhouette.

Even a slight adjustment or local intervention can become amplified through repeated iterations, eventually producing markedly different forms. Rather than seeking a single optimal result, the study investigates the relationship between rules, variables, and form, and considers how this process might serve as a method for generative design and formal exploration.
